I grew up on a farm in Southwestern Manitoba where growing, picking, cooking and preserving seasonal fruits and veggies was part of my daily routine. Now, I love combining that experience with my knowledge and training as a Professional Home Economist to teach others those skills and put good food on tables and agendas. Leading workshops and meeting new people is the favorite part of my job as a free-lance home economist.

In 2010, I started a fruit rescuing group called Fruit Share to help ensure all backyard fruit is harvested and enjoyed. Today, Fruit Share helps fruit owners connect with fruit pickers so they can arrange fruit picking dates. It was Fruit Share and the many questions that arose about how to use local fruit that led me to write the Prairie Fruit Cookbook.

I love the outdoors and exploring it in as many ways as I can no matter what the season.
