Loose Parts Playground - Headingley - July 16 & August 20
(Ages 5+)
Come to our pop-up playground for a revolution in play… LOOSE PARTS PLAY!
In an open outdoor space, children will use their imaginations and play with loose parts! Loose parts include: tarps, bungee cords, tires, milk crates, cardboard packaging and more! This type of play is UNSTRUCTURED and RISKY!
Risky play is about discovery and finding out what we are capable of. It shapes us in unexpected ways. We often assume risk is negative but, it does not have to be! As they begin to play, children are remarkably quite good at mitigating their own risk. They come up with their own rules, negotiate, collaborate and cooperate with other children. Children will have the opportunity to make creative decisions, test their boundaries and limits and learn skills to take into adolescence and adulthood.
Learn more about Loose Parts Play!
At the Loose Parts Playground site, our Summer Recreation Attendant will greet parents and children, orient them of the space and remind them of the expectations to be safe and respectful. Participants can drop in and stay as long as they would like.
Children MUST be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their play.
Please register your family for these programs for contact purposes incase we cancel due to weather!
**PLEASE NOTE: The Loose Parts Playground will be beside the splash pad at the Headingley Community Centre.
