I began my yoga journey as a fitness instructor in 1992 with the MFLDA and enjoyed teaching aerobics, step and resistance classes part time. When I retired, I decided to teach yoga to Older Adults exclusively. At an MFC conference in 2003, I attended a Fusion Fitness Training session with Helen Vanderburg and Donna Read and was hooked on the mind/body approach to fitness. I signed up for Maureen Rae’s Module 1 in 2010, Module 2 in 2013 and furthered my knowledge at Maureen’s Yoga for Older Adults session in Toronto. I got my certification with MFC in 2012 for Fit Flow Yoga and attended Bernie Clark’s Yin Yoga 50 hour course in 2016. I’m inspired to help people find more strength and flexibility through yoga and think Yin Yoga is exactly what many stressed out people need to feel better about their bodies and themselves. I’ve seen firsthand how yoga can improve muscle tone, strength, balance, flexibility, core strength, improve breathing techniques, posture and alignment while enhancing self-awareness, concentration and mental awareness. After 25 years, I still look forward to each yoga class and love what I do. I hope to be guiding people in yoga for another 25 years.
